The Ecoparc Saga: the scientific committee Nov 25, 2008
Ecoparc is the new building concept with an environmentally-friendly and user-friendly emphasis.
Ecoparc combines upgradeability, ecology, and sound economics.
Why is there a scientific committee for Ecoparc?
Ecoparc means highly efficient, environmentally-friendly bioclimatic buildings which provide outstanding user comfort while respecting market prices for traditional service buildings. Ecoparc is the tangible result of in-depth sustainable development thinking – a project which is rooted in the energy issues of our society and era, a project which is accessible to all.
The 6000m² of Ecoparc buildings delivered in 2008 are the first generation of a long line of Ecoparc buildings to come.
In order to pursue the ongoing innovation dedicated to the subject, CCR has gathered a scientific committee on Ecoparc to create a forum for exchange among all the partners contributing to sustainable construction. The forum involves participation from:
Scientists who propose tomorrow’s materials and solutions,
Energy efficiency experts working on consumption control,
Lifetime analysis specialists who help us build with the planet’s survival in mind,
Users, seeking modern, comfortable and economic workspace.
The committee’s objective: to remain open to change, and continue to develop the Ecoparc concept in order to incorporate and control new technical solutions, and continually improve.
Who is on the committee?
Ademe A French Environment and Energy Management Agency working in the industrial and commercial sectors, under the joint supervision of French Ministries for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning (MEDAD) and for Higher Education and Research. Participants: Christian CAROZ, manager, corporate pole for the regional Provence-Alps-Cote d’Azur (PACA) delegation. Jean-Louis PLAZY, former director at ADEME, president of AFG3E at the national level.
Climat Mundi A design office opened in 2006, Climat Mundi specializes in carbon footprint work and in greenhouse gas compensation. Climat Mundi is the leading French reference in the field and runs training courses on carbon emission for the ADEME agency. For CCR, Climat Mundi analyzed the Ecoparc carbon footprint from the design, construction and operations aspects. A CO2 software program has been developed for future Ecoparc projects. 50% of the funding for this work has come from the PACA branch of the Ademe agency. Participant: Matthieu CLAUS, Project Manager.
Etamine Etamine is a heating and HVAC engineering and design firm which works with building owners or prime contractors on high-quality energy-efficient construction projects, working on atmosphere and environmental impact. Etamine is a leading French reference for HQE (French environmental quality standard) construction. Etamine drafted the Ecoparc concept HQE report and conducted dynamic thermal simulations on the Ecoparc building for comparison with the RT 2005 regulatory results and the consumption measurements for the building. Participant: Guillaume PARIZOT, Research Manager.
Nazca Founded in late 2007 and part of the GSE Group, Nazca’s objective is to supply turnkey rooftop photovoltaic systems both for backfitting and new construction. Participant: Julien PUEL, Marketing Director.
And for CCR, Participants: Sébastien DEGORRE, Manager, CCR Energy Sector, Technical Director, Ecoparc. Romain GULOT, Energy Engineer.
Brief Review of the Ecoparc concept...
Ecoparc is a modular, bioclimatic building whose principal features include:
Controlled construction energy consumption through the systematic evaluation of the carbon footprint and the subsequent use of wood..
Controlled operating energy:
Ecoparc buildings are 30% more efficient than current RT2005 regulations,
Monitoring of each building’s energy consumption over a 3-year period using remote readings,
Use of rooftops as solar energy production plants,
Rainwater recovery.
Control over construction costs: turnkey construction of Ecoparc office buildings does not entail any extra costs as compared to traditional office buildings.
User comfort:
Insertion of the project in the surrounding environment,
Landscaping,
Easy access and shelters for cycles and electric vehicles,
Fitness track,
Use of natural daylight yet good sun protection.
Ecoparc is an innovation from the Compagnie des Contractants Régionaux, subsidiary of the GSE Group.
